Wilesco D3 Steam Engine
The D3 is the smallest dry fuel operated steam engine in the Wilesco program and is relatively new to our repertoire.
What makes it special is its upright mounted polished brass boiler and oscillating cylinder. Due to its upright boiler, our D3 model has a base measurement of only 16 x 12.5 cm with a 50 cm³ boiler capacity. This model can drive one of our smooth running drive models.
The base plate and boiler house are made of printed steel sheet, with a red base plate and black boiler house. The elegant appearance of this model is truly a feast for the eyes!
The two sight glasses show the water level. Where the glass of the water level indicators is foggy, there is no water. So the water level can be easily read from the clear part of the glass. With a full water tank, the D3 requires small breaks in operation to build up enough steam power. Once the water level reaches half full, the model is ready for continuous operation with its characteristic noise.
Please oil your D3 well at first, as the speed of the steam engine may be slightly lower during the first runs. Once the piston is broken in, the machine really takes off!
