Space-Saving Steam Engine D14
This stationary model is a space-saving steam engine. It is the only model in the Wilesco steam engine range built with the entire assembly mounted on top of the boiler. The boiler measures 140 x 55 mm and holds 250 cm³, paired with a heavy 80 mm flywheel for powerful operation per boiler fill. Heated with our Witabs dry fuel, this model offers particularly long operating times. In operation, the machine hums like a Swiss watch and runs with minimal vibration. Using the dome steam whistle — operated via a small lever — you can produce sound effects during operation. The condensate drains into a tray below the chimney, releasing real "smoke" (steam) from the stack and giving the scene an authentic touch.
Always ensure the machine is not operated without sufficient water in the boiler. The water level must be visible in the sight glass, at least at the lower edge.
Tips for Operating Your Wilesco D14 Steam Engine
Regular oiling is essential — only when the boiler is depressurized and the engine cooled. To oil the engine, unscrew the oil filler cap and add WILESCO steam engine oil. Turn the flywheel several times to draw the oil into the system. We recommend oiling the D14 with each new fuel load. 2–3 drops are typically sufficient for approx. 10 minutes of runtime. All bearings and joints should be lightly oiled to ensure a long service life and lasting steam fun.
