A Steam Engine Built to Last
The Wilesco D16 is a timeless steam engine model that offers years of steam-powered enjoyment.
Its polished and nickel-plated brass boiler has a diameter of 55 mm and a length of 140 mm, with a capacity of 250 cm³. The D16 has enough power to operate various accessories simultaneously. It also features a sight glass-style water level indicator.
The boiler house is designed with a brick pattern, flanked by two catwalks. A small ladder leads up to them on the boiler-facing side.
The double-acting, fixed-position brass cylinder is equipped with a flywheel that can be started in both directions. A spring-loaded safety valve is also included, as expected in a premium model.
You can control the steam output using the chain-operated whistle and the handwheel-operated shut-off valve. Other premium features of the D16 include an 80 mm flywheel with string pulley, solid die-cast connecting rods, a centrifugal governor, a displacement lubricator, and a gallery rail. This 1.8 kg steam engine model produces authentic smoke from its chimney and runs on solid fuel.
The D16’s boiler heats up quickly, and the mechanism runs smoothly at all throttle positions. Many of our customers dreamed of owning a Wilesco steam engine as children. Today, they can fulfill that dream with the D16 – a machine often called a "timeless toy." Some even affectionately refer to it as the "PlayStation of the 70s."
